Lampyris Noctiluca

by Aristide Rontini (Italy)
11:00 – Kulturni Center Lojze Bratuž

Lampyris Noctiluca explores different perspectives on diversity through the multiplication of perceptions and visions. By immersing himself in the legacy of Pier Paolo Pasolini, Aristide Rontini reveals the dancing body as a site of transformation and imaginative visions. ‘The disappearance of fireflies’ evoked by the Italian writer in an article written in 1975, is the image sustaining the live creative process from within. Thus, the fireflies embodied by Aristide Rontini and the live music by Vittorio Giampietro refract into multiple forms of resistance, where presence has no limits.

Biography:

Aristide Rontini is a choreographer based in Italy. His works have been programmed by Italian and international festivals and theatres. He has created works for Introdans and Skånes Dansteater and is involved in projects focused on the development of performing arts by artists with disabilities. He is among the founders of Al.di.Qua. Artists, the first association for the rights of artists with disabilities.

Notes:

This piece exists also as a 25 min version. It can be performed in outdoors settings if these meet the technical requirements.

The company offers an intergenerational dance workshop for people with or without disability, different cultural backgrounds and for queer communities. The workshop can be oriented to the creation of a short collective performance called ‘Corporale’ (about 10-15 minutes) that follows the solo Lampyris Noctiluca.
