Weightlessness is used to describe the state of a body that is not subjected to any force external to itself. In Le Piquet, David Zagari explores this complex, universal and yet unique relationship between gravity and the weight of a body attempting to carry itself.
A helmeted figure evolves in this intimate yet claustrophobic setting, maybe an astronaut stranded on the surface of an arid planet or a motorcyclist lost after a crash in the desert. These clichés of heroic virility and aggressive conquest of space turn into symbols of introspection and loss of bearings.
Trained in Lyon, David Zagari has collaborated with various international companies. In 2012 he began developing several projects in collaboration with Alessandra Coppola under the research “Gender Matters & Physical Exhaustion”. After a masters degree in Urban Space at La Cambre he started creating participative installations. Since 2022, he has focused on performances at the intersection of visual and performing arts.
