“GOOD VIBES ONLY (beta test)” is the first chapter of the large-scale project “GOOD VIBES ONLY ”. The work is structured as a beta test, that is the initial phase of testing software under real-world conditions by actual users.
The project was created to explore the concept of scrolling and, by borrowing the structure of a free trial, it delves into the relationship between performativity and consumption.
Francesca Santamaria is an Italian artist based in Rome, active in the field of performing arts. Her research focuses on performative logics and their implications through an analysis of the moving body and its limits. Her works have been presented in numerous national and international contexts and festivals, including Vetrina della giovane danza d’autore, Operaestate, Romaeuropa, Bolzano Danza, MILANoLTRE.
The piece can be performed outdoors. It can be performed in Italian and English, and presented with subtitles in various languages. This work is the first chapter of a trilogy. The second chapter, “GOOD VIBES ONLY (the great effort)”, is currently available for touring (40-minute duration, suitable for indoor spaces). The third chapter, “GOOD VIBES ONLY (Royal Rumble)”, is currently in development.
Francesca Santamaria offers a three-hour workshop, designed for a maximum of 15 participants, based on the choreographic device of “GOOD VIBES ONLY (beta test)”
