Musseque is home, a way of being.
Against the backdrop of war, the performers free themselves through rhythm, precision and resistance towards freedom. The four performers have created a dance of the present drawing from the experiences from the past.
In Musseque, speeches become a revolution and bodies, resistance. The hallucinating rhythm of movements display the resilience of those who endure beyond war.
Fábio Jorge Januário was born in 1988 in Luanda, Angola. Self-taught in hip-hop, house, popping and locking, he has frequently given Kuduro workshops and masterclasses in Portugal, France and Switzerland, amongst other countries. Since 2022, he has been a performer in Marco da Silva Ferreira’s CARCAÇA, which premiered in 2021, which is currently touring internationally. In 2024, within the framework of Projeto CASA, coproduced by Espaço do Tempo, Centro Cultural Vila Flor and Cineteatro Louletano, he created his first piece Musseque that is now touring across Portugal and internationally.
We are happy to adapt the show to unconventional venues.
In addition to the show, we also offer complementary activities:
Kuduro/house/kizomba workshops led by the dancers
Musseque after-party, as some of the dancers are also DJs
