Mercedes máis eu is a collaboration between the artist Janet Novás and the composer Mercedes Peón in which they explore the relationship between “her dance and her music” through a drum kit, song, dance, memory and silence.
In this shared ritual, triggered by their distinctive artistic personalities, the piece looks toward the collective, from a non stereotypical perspective and sensibility. Mercedes máis eu is a music and dance hybrid full of evocative images. It is divided into four sections, allowing it to inhabit different settings and places, from black to white boxes –in other words, from theatres to museums and galleries.
Janet Novás is a dancer, creator, actress and teacher. Based in Barcelona since 2020,she has been a resident artist for two years at El Graner – Fàbrica de Creació with her latest production ‘Proto’ (SN1806). In 2007, she began to create and develop her own solo projects. From observation, experience and dialogue with her body as the principle tool, she molds emotional content through a personal aesthetic simplicity.
This piece exists also as a 60 minute version.
